MARK ELIOTT
COLOURED BOROSILICATE FLAME-WORKSHOP
2010
Mark Eliott is an exhibiting glass artist who has taught borosilicate flame-work at various places including Sydney College of the Arts, Queenwood school for girls, Bondi Pavilion, Canberra Glassworks and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
In this workshop, intended for introductory and ongoing skills development, the emphasis will be on coloured borosilicate glass sculpture. The course will be intensive over 4 days and perfect for absolute beginners. Though some previous experience in flame-work sculpting or bead making may be an advantage, none is assumed and varying levels of skill and experience will be catered to.
The initial focus will be on both solid sculpting with tools and hollow glass blowing. We will explore various ways of joining, shaping, blowing, annealing and using colour in rods and frits.
All basic materials and equipment will be provided. Students are welcome to take home what they make, including free-form sculptures, pendants, beads, figurines and vessels.
We hope that you can join us to share the excitement of a journey into the world of coloured glass forming.
